Music + Mindfulness

In this episode I chat with Murray Hidary who is passionate about helping people connect more profoundly with themselves and to find clarity and calmness through mindful music. He is a a meditation teacher, composer and pianist who performs with a special purpose.
He talks with me about how music can bring healing and connection especially during times of stress. We explore the ways he tethers music and mindfulness through his SilentHikes and MindTravel.
His SilentHikes that took place across the country last year and drew capacity crowds. (Participants wore headphones while they experienced an environment such as a garden or a beach, guided by verbal and musical cues from Hidary.) Here’s a link to an article in the Chicago Tribune, which gives in-depth description of the experience.
It’s all part of MindTravel, a transformative musical mindfulness experience created by Hidary. Hidary can talk about how all the components – music, words, silence, visual cues – can work synergistically to help people connect with themselves and the world around them. And he can help your audience incorporate these elements into their day at home – it does not have to be done in a group setting.
MindTravel has just introduced a downloadable version of the SilentHikes. The 60-minute program allows individuals to discover the beauty of nature and inner calm no matter where they are, without needing a group event.
